We had talked about Google health intiative earlier. For better or worse, it seems almost confirmed that the person leading this effort at Google, Adam Bosworth, is leaving Google. Rumor-mill has been grinding extra time on this with speculations on whether Mr. Bosworth left on his own or was asked to leave.
Reuters just reports the official line that Adam Bosworth is leaving on his own accord and Marissa Mayer will now run the show temporarily.
Yahoo news also reports the same Reuters story.
Searchengineland.com reports this as the official Google statement:
Adam is a great talent and was instrumental in starting Google Health. He is now on vacation and has decided to pursue other opportunities after that. Marissa Mayer is taking over the health team in the interim until a new team leader takes over. Google is moving forward with work on our health products.
We will soon find out what this means for the Google health initiative.
MeraMD expects this announcement to be followed up with more. Keep watching.

Google is getting serious about health... and that can only mean good for the general population. MeraMD is going to be watching these efforts in this blog and will keep posting updates. Read this article by Roni Zeiger, Product Manager at Google to get some clues into what Google is planning.

Google is working towards enabling patients to gain more control over their health by getting reliable medical information. This is also one of the primary goals of MeraMD.
So, is meraMD competing with Google...? Absolutely not! We are complementing Google in what we are providing... local health search. As the Google blog also mentions, you can use the internet all you like to search information, but you MUST visit a doctor to take care of your health.
MeraMD is committed to being the best resource for this so called "last mile" - to borrow a term from the telecom companies - and connect you with doctors, hospitals, insurance agents - and help you get the best medical care.
